Also Besana, represented by Pino Calcagni, was among the invitees, from 5 to 7 August 2019, at the China International Tree Nuts Conference organized by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with INC, the International Nut and Dried Fruit Council Foundation, the representative global body of over 800 companies in more than 80 countries around the world who produce and process nuts and dried fruit.

The convention in Zhengzhou, attended by more than 600 people among authorities and specialized operators, offered the opportunity to fix priorities of the sector and discuss industry trends, with a specific focus onto the country hosting the event. For the 2019/2020 season at global level a further increase in the production of nuts and dried fruit is expected, which will exceed 4.6 million tons, thus marking a + 25% compared to the average of the last ten years.

The major references continue to be the so-called "big five": almonds, walnuts, cashews, pistachios and hazelnuts. China is currently the world's largest producer of nuts, with a share of around 45%. According to data provided by CFNA, the Asian giant will also produce 26,200 tons of nuts in the 2019/2020 season, and namely pine nuts, macadamia, hazelnuts, pistachios and pecans.

In 2018 over 3.4 million tons of nuts and dried fruit were traded between numerous countries, and the trend is of further increase. If the consumers of nuts and dried fruit reached the quota of 1 billion in 2018, already in 2030 it is expected that there will be 1.8 billion consumers out of a world population of 8 billion people, and in 2040, it will arrive to 2.8 billion.

Particular attention in these more and more increasing trade exchanges will have to be paid to the duties applied by various countries (from 2018 to today there are 12 variations in this sense in the world), which can heavily affect the prices of nuts and the commercial choices.

Great enthusiasm was raised by the speakers' interventions on the evolution of the Asian market, already projected towards innovative marketing systems.
