BESANA Lab Study on Trans Fatty Acids

The National Academy of Sciences, in its ‘Letter report on dietary reference intakes for trans fatty acids’, published in July 2002 through INSTITUTE OF MEDICINE (2002) has confirmed the view that trans fatty acids are to be considered much more hazardous than saturated fat in terms of cardiovascular risks.

Nuts such as almonds, pistachios, hazelnuts, etc, have a very low contents in trans fatty acids.

In view of the generally quite reduced research and information on trans fatty acids, the laboratory of Besana Group has taken action and has carried out a proper study to determine the lipid profile of nuts with particular focus on the percentage of trans fatty acids.
