Business Council Italy-Kazakhstan constituted with the participation of the «Baiterek» Holding

The bilateral commercial exchange between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Italy has reached 9,615 billion USD in 2017.

«NMH» Baiterek» spa, Astana, 16 February. The delegation of the holding “Baiterek”, headed by the Vice Managing Director Galymzhan Tadzhiyakov, has attended the VIIIth Meeting of the Intergovernmental Working Group on Economic and Industrial Cooperation. Final result was the decision of the parties to constitute the Italy-Kazakhstan Business Council.

During the visit the delegates of the «Baiterek» Holding had the opportunity to participate also to the activities of the Italian-Kazakh business forum with bilateral meetings with delegates from Italian side, coming from AIDEPI, the banker group UBI Banca, the finance and credit organization Finest, the important industrial holding Leonardo, as well as the governmental consortium ‘Cassa depositi e prestiti Group’. Important projects of the of organizations affiliated to the Holding, and namely Banca dello Sviluppo of Kazakhstan, Damu Foundation and the Kazakhstan Project Preparation Fund, have been illustrated during the meeting.


More information: The bilateral commercial exchange between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Italy has reached 9,615 billion USD in 2017. Therefore, in 2017 Italy is in second position among the commercial partner countries of Kazakhstan and first of all European countries. Italy is further one of the main economic investors in Kazakhstan. The statistics elaborated by the Central Bank of Kazakhstan, show that from 2005 until the first quarter of 2017, the direct Italian investments in the Kazakh economy were of 5.76 billion USD.

Besana Group participates to Italian-Kazakh G2B Meeting in Rome

Under the umbrella of ITA/ICE  a bilateral G2B meeting between diplomatic, ministerial and institutional representatives from Italy and Kazakhstan has taken place in Rome on Thursday 15th February 2018.
Purpose of the meeting was an exchange with industry partners from both countries on important topics such as internationalization and promotion of business and investment opportunities.
Numerous CEO’s of the Kazak industry attended the event.
Pino Calcagni has been invited for Besana Group, mainly in consideration of the agricultural activity started by Besana International already in 2014 in Eastern Europe and then extended to Ukraine and Kazakhstan. He highlighted, under the acclaim of the participants, the importance of Nuts within the bilateral relationships and the opportunities for a modern nut agriculture in Kazakhstan.


VI Encuentro Brasileño y II Encuentro Latinoamericano de nueces y castañas

Last week, on 16th October 2017 in Sao Paulo of Brazil the ‘VI Encuentro Brasileño y II Encuentro Latinoamericano de nueces y castañas‘ undertitled “Nozes para la vida”, has taken place, annual meeting event organized by the National Industrial Federation of Sao Paulo of Brazil (FIESP) and attended by operators of the nut sector not only from South America but worldwide.

Pino Calcagni, President of Besana Group, has been among the key guest speakers holding a speech in the name of the INC (International Nut Council Foundation), of which he is Vice President and chairs successfully the Scientific Committee . Durante his presentation he has once again enhanced the importance of the international body and its widespread activities around nuts and dried fruit, and has also underlined the importance of the sector in the worldwide nutrition scenario, with an outlook versus a possible increase of consumption as a result of the growing consciousness about the extraordinary healthiness of these products.


South America, as Calcagni has proven with facts and numbers, provoking the applause of the floor, has a primary role in this development.MG_3750

Significant agreements between South American associations and the INC have been envisaged for the near future to valorize more and more the produce from those origins.

With sincere pride we announce that on Tuesday 23 January 2018 our President Pino Calcagni, also Vice Chairman of  INC, has held a Lectio Magistralis at the Caspian University in Almaty, Kazakhstan, following a very personal invitation of the Rector of the University after the untiring efforts and the constant dedication in the country for the development of projects for a modern agriculture through financial aids and transfer of know-how to local farmers (as already realized with big success in Eastern European countries), with the purpose to create new production areas for hazelnuts, walnuts, almonds and pistachios, partly on soils coming from the traditional and today quite unprofitable fruit cultivation.



Calcagni’s Lectio ranged from the development of tree nut crops in the last 60 years and the expectations of consumption towards 2030 in consideration of emerging countries like China and India, details on the beneficial characteristics of nuts, to the hot issue of worldwide climate change and to the economic opportunities and feasibility of agro-industrial projects in the Kazak territory.


Under a big applause by students, professors and the Degree Commission, Pino Calcagni has been conferred  with a Laurea ad Honorem. After 60 years of experience and engagement he is considered Master and Teacher worldwide.

With this important recognition, in fact, Pino Calcagni confirms once again his prestige in the entire tree nut and dried fruit world, today not only at industrial level but increasingly also in agricultural and agronomic activities.

And last not least, this confirms once again his particular social sensitiveness creating working opportunities and raising enthusiasm in economically and climatically different regions.
